It is with incredible heartache that we announce the passing of Annie Manjak. Annie was born on her homestead, near Kopernick, Alberta, on August 1st, 1925, and passed peacefully, surrounded by love, in Vernon, British Columbia on January 30th, 2019 at the age of 93. Annie grew up in Kopernick, and made her journey to Vernon, BC at the age of 23, in 1943.

Here, she met Karl Manjak while working as a cashier at Safeway, downtown Vernon. Annie and Karl married on October 18th, 1951 and gave birth to their first of three children in 1954. Annie then went to work at Supervalu in 1965, where she worked until her retirement in 1982. Annie was passionate about her gardening, sewing, music, cooking and spending time with her family. She took great pleasure in feeding those around her with delicious home baked goods and preserves. Anne was especially social and had a unique sense of humor. She often left her friends and family in gut wrenching laughter and created smiles wherever she went. Gardening was a passion that Annie shared with her late husband Karl. She had a special talent in the garden and her flowers were always a spectacular feature.

Roses will always have a special meaning to her close family and friends. Annie was loved by everyone that crossed her path and never hesitated to return that love. She taught her family the importance of kindness, unwavering patience and when all else failed, a good home cooked meal.

Annie is predeceased her four brothers and by her loving husband, Karl Manjak. Annie will be greatly missed by her three children; Sandra Malkinson and spouse Tony Vieville, Allan Myndzak, Judy Evans; her four grandchildren; Braydon Malkinson, Jennifer Manjak, Nathan Linford, Josh Linford; as well numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Annie’s family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to the Sage staff, at Noric House, as well as Annie’s close friend and sister in law, Mary Gough for the immense time, love, care, and compassion that they extended to Annie.

At Annie’s request, a funeral will not be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her infectious smile will be fondly remembered and cherished. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family’s on-line obituary @ www.MyAlternatives.ca.
