Preliminary elections results from the Fraser Valley Regional District reveal that Annie Silver is the new director of Electoral Area-C, winning by one single vote.

Silver won with 136 votes, a near tie to opponent Wendy Bales who raked in 135. Candidate Mel Waardenburg came in third with 99 votes.

Electoral Area-C or ‘Sasquatch Country’ includes the communities of Hemlock Valley, Harrison Mills, Lake Errock and serveral First Nations including Douglas, Leq’a:mel, Samahquam, Scowlitz, Skatin and Sts’ailes.

The previous director of Area-C was Alec Niemi.

Official results are not confirmed until Oct. 24.
