Less than a week after a major storm swept through the Fraser Valley, leaving thousands without power, the region is bracing for another major storm.
Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for much of B.C.’s southwest coast that predicts gusts could hit 90 km/h and may cause damage.
Environment Canada says:
“An intensifying low pressure system off the Washington Coast will
cross the southern tip of Vancouver Island late this afternoon.
Strong southeast winds near 60 km/h today will shift to southwest by
this evening and gust up to 90 km/h over southern sections of
Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands, Metro Vancouver, and the
Fraser Valley. Winds will ease overnight as the low weakens and
moves into the BC Interior.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
“Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
