The City of Courtenay has received a rezoning application for an apartment complex at 801 Ryan Rd., between Superstore and the Mex Pub.
Broadstreet Properties hopes to construct a three-building complex containing 251 rental units. They would be a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom suites.
Dubbed Glenhart Views, the proposal includes a central gathering area, personal garden plots, an off-leash dog run, private balconies and rooftop patios. Pending approval from council, the buildings will be five storeys, with one level of covered parking.
Broadstreet intends to follow guidelines of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Affordable Housing Program, which requires at least 20 per cent of units to be at least 10 per cent below market value for 10 years from occupancy date. Maximum rents are dictated by the CMHC.
