Argus provides storage for Kelowna Christmas hampers

When the Central Okanagan Food Bank needed storage space, a Kelowna business stepped up

With the Central Okanagan Food Bank still waiting to move into its new location on Enterprise, Kelowna’s Argus Properties has stepped forward to help with storage space for the group.

Argus has donated nearly 10,000 square feet of space at one of their warehouses on Enterprise Way to house thousands of Christmas hampers for the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank, a lease that would be worth about $16,000.

“We work with the food bank usually every year,” said Rob Smith, Argus’ director of leasing. “They are great to work with. We usually sponsor a family every year and a number of us volunteer. This was a vacant building for us so was an easy decision.”

The company anticipated the donation to be around $10,000 (hence the cheque in the picture) however the total amount was closer to $16,000.

But Smith said it was most important to get the food bank some space for its hampers at this time of the year.

The Central Okanagan Food Bank is expected to move into its new Enterprise location in the new year.
