A police standoff at a house in downtown Chilliwack ended peacefully over the lunch hour Friday with one man taken into custody.
Just after noon RCMP were executing a search warrant on a wanted individual. That male apparently fled into a house at the corner of Williams Street and Gore Avenue.

A large police presence descended on the house, which included two members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services unit.
At around 12:30 p.m., officers had detained three young men on or near the sidewalk on Williams Street. At least two were placed in handcuffs, but shortly after speaking to the men they were released.
After that, an officer was heard calling through a loudspeaker at the small green house.
“We have a warrant for your arrest, come on out,” he said at first, then. “You are under arrest. Come on out of the house.”
Two officers had guns drawn as the police dogs barked outside the house. Half an hour later at approximately 1 p.m. a heavily tattooed man slowly emerged with his hands up.
He had a cigarette in his mouth and he walked out onto the lawn following police directions. He threw the cigarette on the ground, then lay face down after which he was handcuffed and taken into custody.

Police did not identify the man arrested, but The Progress identified 29-year-old David Allen Geoghegan as the man arrested by police Friday.
A warrant was issued for Geoghegan on Oct. 30 when he failed to appear in court facing charges of possession of stolen property and breach of probation.
Geoghegan is well-known to police and the criminal justice system as he has a lengthy record.
In April of this year, Geoghegan was arrested after fleeing the scene of an allegedly stolen abandoned auto. He was tracked down by a police dog named, ironically, Dave.
He faces numerous charges in connection with that incident and is next due in court on that matter on Nov. 13.
