RCMP stated the description of the suspect in an armed robbery in Oliver on Thursday is similar to that of a prolific offender wanted on a warrant.
On July 16, at 10:17 a.m. the South Okanagan (Oliver) RCMP attended to a complaint of an armed robbery in the 6400 block of Park Drive.
Officers attended and spoke to the business owner who advised that just shortly after 10 a.m. an unknown man entered the store and produced a weapon. Extensive patrols were made for the suspect vehicle by Oliver, Osoyoos and South Okanagan Traffic Services officers and with the assistance of a RCMP helicopter.
From the description provided, police said they believe it to be similar to that of a Ronald Arthur Teneycke who currently has outstanding warrants out of Penticton. Teneycke failed to report and has not yet been located by police.
The witness to the armed robbery stated the male suspect departed in an older model GMC pick-up described as smaller size (possibly quarter ton), two-tone, white or light grey and dark grey with a red stripe along the bottom it may have had a dark grey, or a black canopy on the box.
The suspect is described as a white male, late 50’s-early 60’s, 5’10”, 150 pounds, facial hair, cleft lip or scar above lip. RCMP also said he has grey, longer, “surfer style” hair. The man was seen wearing jeans with a black shirt, black leather coat and a dark coloured ball cap. He was also described as looking “thin and sickly.
