The City of Armstrong believes in the value of the City of Vernon RCMP Safe Communities Unit.
The unit’s contract with Vernon and five neighbouring municipalities –including Armstrong – expires this year on Dec. 31.
Armstrong council will send a letter to the City of Vernon indicating the city’s desire to discuss continuing the program.
“We definitely want to renew (the contract),” said Armstrong Mayor Chris Pieper. “We are extremely pleased with the service we are getting, and we want it to continue.”
The safe communities unit provides and delivers programs and services promoting safe communities and crime prevention.
Other partners in the agreement are the District of Coldstream, Township of Spallumcheen, Village of Lumby and City of Enderby.
Important society dates
The Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Arts Society has been granted unanimous approval by the city to place signage outside the museum and around the city for three important events.
The annual book sale runs April 5 to 12; the annual plant and bake sale will go on May 10; and the craft and bake sale runs Nov. 29.
