Some of Armstrong’s infrastructure is undergoing an overhaul.
On Monday, council awarded the tender for the 2016 capital projects.
“We do a couple of projects every year,” said Mayor Chris Pieper.
Out of seven bids, the successful contractor was Coldstream’s Postill Nixon Earthworks for $426,867.
The primary work will be focused on upgrading the water main on Okanagan Street.
“It will serve the north end of town for many years to come,” said Pieper.
The other scheduled projects are the Wood Avenue overlay and Okanagan Street boulevard sloping.
“All three projects are within the approved city budget,” said Tim Perepolkin, public works manager, in a report.
“Based on the quantity and prices of the tenders received, we can confirm the process was very competitive.”
The highest bid was $656,830, followed by $539,398 in second place.
It’s anticipated that work on Okanagan Street will begin June 1 and be wrapped up by July 1, with the other two projects expected to be done between July 1 and 10.
