Armstrong residents can add their input to the city’s flood mapping and risk assessment report.
A 171-page report prepared by engineer Aaron Hahn of Lake Country’s Interior Dams was presented to council Monday, and a public hearing on the report is slated for tonight (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Oddfellows Hall.
“It was an excellent presentation,” said Mayor Chris Pieper. “Part of the report is public input and the public are more than welcome to come Thursday. There will be a question-and-answer period so questions about the report can be asked, or provide input into the report, that’s what the meeting is for.”

The report does a complete watershed study on Meighan and Deep Creeks, so it is known how much water comes down. The report predicts floods but not what year they’ll happen, rather the impact on the amount of water from the floods.
Both creeks have overflowed their banks in the last couple of years due to heavy rainfall, combined with melting snow and warmer-than-usual seasonal temperatures.
The report releases 11 key findings and five recommendations for the city moving forward.
