Despite not hosting the Filberg Festival for the second year in a row due to the pandemic, those on the Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park board are making most of the summer with a new offering at the Comox park on summer weekends.
Filberg Live is “a way to bring life back into the park with food, finds and a fun vibe the Filberg Festival had,” explained Audrey Craig, board president.
Every weekend throughout July and August, Filberg Park is hosting an artisan pop-up market showcasing a variety of crafts. A select group of artisans will showcase their work each weekend. The market will be located next to the Filberg Summer Kitchen from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The idea for Filberg Live came about from volunteers, explained Craig, and noted they are starting with a small group of artisans each weekend and may increase the numbers as health orders and COVID-19 protocols allow.
Additionally, Three Legged Dog Productions will perform at the Comox Rotary Stage, presenting three live shows including Oldies and Goldies: Selections from Musical Theatre’s Golden Age (July 16 -18); Page to Stage: From Works of Literature (Aug. 6 to 8) and Young, Scrappy and Hungry: Songs From Contemporary Musicals (Aug. 13 to 14).
Craig said the cutting garden at the park has also seen “phenomenal growth” throughout the year and will be offering bouquets from their garden.
The Filberg Gift Shop inside the lodge will also be open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Craig added if the pandemic continues to subside, the board is looking forward to restarting the Filberg Festival for summer 2022.
