Lost wallet

Feb. 17 at 10:20 am a 24 year old Ashcroft man reported that he had lost his wallet the night before in downtown Ashcroft. Any found wallets or purses should be turned into the RCMP Detachment.

Self inflicted abuse

Feb. 17 at 11:24 am police investigated an allegation that a 57 year old Cache Creek man was in Royal Inland Hospital because of an assault. The man’s doctor advised police that there were no signs of physical trauma on the male and that the brain hemorrhage was likely caused by long term alcohol abuse.

If the name fits…

Feb. 18 at 4:10 pm police stopped a Volkswagen Passad on Hwy 1 at the bottom of Jackass Mountain after clocking the vehicle at 138 kph in a 90 kph zone. The 20 year old Prince George man was given a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Tired and confused

Feb. 19 at 1:03 am police received a report of a black pickup stopped on Hwy 1 in Cache Creek. Police attended and found the engine running with the driver asleep inside. The 72 year old Alaska man was awoken and could not explain why he was parked there. He advised that he was diabetic but felt fine, but he hadn’t had much sleep in the past three days. The officer followed him for 200 metres as he drove away and pulled him over again when it because apparent that the man could not keep his vehicle within his driving lane. He was told to park and find a bed for the night.

No belt, no license

Feb. 19 at 9:39 am police stopped a driver in Ashcroft who wasn’t wearing his seat belt. The 24 year old Ashcroft man was given tickets for driving without a license and not wearing a seat belt. His vehicle was towed.No license to speedFeb. 19 at 2 pm police stopped a black Dodge Dakoka on Hwy 97 at 83 Mile as it travelled at 155 kph in a 100 kph zone. The 29 year old Kelowna man was given a ticket for excessive speed, another for driving contrary to the conditions on his license and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

House party

Feb. 19 at 10:45 pm police received two complaints of excessive noise coming from a Cache Creek residence. The first complainant also reported underage drinking. Police attended but there was no excessive noise. There had been approximately 12 people in the house at one point but most of them had left, and no alcohol or intoxication was noticed in the young teenagers who remained.

Fast but not swift

Feb. 20 at 12:40 am a 30 year old Prince George woman driving a Mazda 5 minivan was pulled over in Cache Creek for travelling at 105 kph in the 50 kph zone. She asked to be allowed to drive to a nearby motel so she could transfer her belongings before the vehicle was towed, but once there found she didn’t have enough money for a motel room. She went to the Husky to wait for a friend from Abbotsford to pick her up. She received a ticket for excessive speed and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Rude awakening

Feb. 20 at 3:30 am police attended a single vehicle accident on Hwy 1 east of Cache Creek near Back Valley Rd. Police found an abandoned truck off the road, but no driver. Witnesses advised police that they saw the 19 year old Cache Creek leave the vehicle and walk into town on his own. He was located the next morning and advised that he was driving home from Savona and fell asleep at the wheel. He had some minor scratches to show for the accident. His vehicle was towed and he was identified as a prohibited driver and served with a four month driving prohibition.

Fly-through

Feb. 20 at 3:28 pm police stopped a Honda Ridgeline pickup in Cache Creek for excessive speed after travelling at 124 kph in the 70 kph zone. The 54 year old Burnaby man was given a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

ET phone home

Feb. 20 police received a complaint by Husky staff that an intoxicated man has stolen a phone from behind the counter. The man was located the following day  having lunch at the Husky. Police attended and spoke to the 30 year old Ontario man who said he didn’t recall being at the Husky the night before as he was quite drunk. His actions of the night before were described to him and he was warned about his behaviour. The phone had already been returned.

Worse than kids

Feb. 22 at 5 pm police attended a single vehicle accident on Hwy 97C by Barnes Lake Rd. The 46 year old man advised that he was distracted by his dog in the passenger seat of their Miata when the car hit the shoulder and the two passenger side wheels went over an embankment. The vehicle was towed back onto the road. Neither man nor dog were injured.
