Vanderhoof’s local RCMP detachment lodged 85 files in the past week.
Coincident find, detachments collaborate
Items stolen from a residence on Ejner Road over the weekend were reported on Aug. 22, but found by the Fraser Lake police on the previous day.
On Aug. 21 at about 9 a.m., Fraser Lake’s RCMP were investigating a suspicious vehicle in Fort Fraser and located three Vanderhoof men. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found items that later coincided with those reported lost in the Vanderhoof residence.
One of the three men will be charged for possession of stolen items.
Break and enter, hit and run
At 2:10 a.m., three people, who were refused entry to a residence at Saik’uz First Nation, kicked their way into the home and assaulted the resident at the door on Aug. 20.
Known to the victim, the group of two men and a woman stole a bottle of wine and left.
All three suspects were arrested within the hour by police officers responding to the home invasion complaint. One man remains in custody, and the rest of the group is released with conditions.
Fruity calling bears
As harvest season approaches, the police reminds fruit growers to harvest ripe produce and clean up fallen fruit in time to avoid attracting bears.
One bear was reported fruit picking at a residence in town last week.
