Two Vernon murder suspects will spend the holidays behind bars.
Nicholas Jacob, defence lawyer for Jacqueline Nicole Leavins, appeared in Vernon Supreme Court Dec. 17 to request adjournment on the bail review hearing for his client and the co-accused Richard William Fairgrieve.
“(Glenn) Verdurmen (defence counsel for Fairgrieve) and myself are asking for an adjournment to the week of Jan. 21, 2019 for a one-day bail hearing on this matter.,” said Jacob, who appeared as agent for Verdurmen.
Fairgrieve, who was beamed into Supreme Court via video, was upset at the fact that he wouldn’t be granted bail Monday and that his lawyer wasn’t in court.
“Didn’t I go for bail today?” Fairgrieve questioned Justice Allan Betton.

The precise day and time of the bail hearing during the week of Jan. 21, 2019 isn’t yet known, Justice Betton said.
Fairgrieve and Leavins are facing one count of murder each. The charges against the co-accused have not been proven in court.
