This Christmas season will be one to remember at Silver Star.
The resort posted its busiest holiday period in several years.
“Christmas/New Year business levels have been steady since 2008/09 but this season numbers jumped by 13 per cent,” said Marke Dickson, director of sales and marketing.
“The resort was sold out through New Year’s, something that hasn’t happened for some time.”
Although busy, Dickson believes the resort never felt crowded.
“Mountain holidays are about sliding down, not standing around,” he said.
“Our focus is on making sure that Silver Star is still fun for the whole family, even on the busiest of days.”
A major draw for local residents and visitors has been the snow.
“More than 350 centimeres had fallen on the mountain by Christmas, a total not normally recorded until well into the new year,” said Dickson.
“With a current snow base of close to two metres, many locals are calling conditions the best in a decade.”
Dickson says bookings for the remainder of the winter are pacing well ahead of last year.
