Barriere Food Bank makes Christmas for many

Barriere and District Food Bank Society is saying “thank you” to the community and surrounding area for all of the generous donations throughout the year and especially during the Christmas season.

They also say a big “thank you” to all those who volunteered their time to help make Christmas a little less stressful for the clients.

On Dec. 10 the Food Bank arranged the food bank building so that their clients were able to stop in and shop for their children and family from numerous toys and gifts donated locally and from the Thunder Alley Toy Run, Interior Savings Knitten Mitten Tree, and Nicky’s Red Wagon at Interior Savings Insurance. There were also 76 Barriere AG Foods food packs that individuals had purchased at the store for the Food Bank.

One Food Bank rep said the event made many Christmas wishes come true and she recounted one in particular, “A client came in to choose gifts for her children, and noted her daughter had asked for a special gift that she never expected to be able to provide. But amazingly, there was the exact gift waiting for her when she started to look at all the wonderful gifts and toys available at the food bank, so her daughter would get exactly what she hoped for!”
