The subject of supportive housing will be discussed in council chambers in Hope tonight (Jan. 27).
A delegation that’s proposing the 52-unit housing project will present a summary to council, consisting at least in part of feedback they’ve received from the community.
The delegation is set to include Naomi Brunemeyer, development director for BC Housing, Frank Tick, manager of Coordinated Access and Assessment for BC Housing, and Gerry Dyble, the executive director for the Hope and Area Transition Society (HATS).
They will present an overview of their proposal for support housing in Hope, and a “summary of the key interests identified through early engagement.” They will also address how their project, which would be in addition to Hope’s current homeless shelter, will address the community interests.
Back in November, BC Housing, HATS and Fraser Health put on two open houses for the community to drop in and learn more about the proposed project. The project has recieved mixed reactions from those in the community so far.

The agenda for tonight’s council meeting does not include any action items that would require council to make any decisions. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the District Hall.
