100 Mile House RCMP responded to 57 calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:

Unsafe driving

On March 6, RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver who was driving southbound on Hwy 97 near 100 Mile House.

The vehicle was reported to be passing when unsafe and had almost caused a collision with an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle was located by a member of Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services and was stopped. The male driver showed symptoms of alcohol consumption. A roadside breath test was demanded but the male refused to provide a sample of his breath.

As a result, the male resident of Prince George was arrested for failing to provide a sample under the criminal code.

The vehicle was towed and the male was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Hydro pole hit

On March 6, RCMP were called to a motor vehicle incident on Hwy 97 near 103 Mile House. A vehicle travelling southbound had gone off road left and struck a BC Hydro pole. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the 100 Mile hospital for what were believed to be minor injuries. Weather and road conditions were possibly a factor due to falling snow at the time. BC Hydo were called to assess the damage to the pole which was still upright.

Hydro pole hit

On March 4, RCMP were called to hit and run involving a BC Hydro pole on the 5900 block of Horse Lake Rd. The pole had been sheared off at the ground level, however, the lines were still functional and not on the ground.

From broken vehicle parts found at the scene, it is believed that the vehicle was a Dodge Ram pick up. It is believed that the incident occurred at 4 a.m. that morning. BC Hydro attended to replace the damaged pole.

Assault

On March 3, RCMP were called to a residence on the 4000 block of Canim Hendrix Lake Rd for a report of an assault.

Upon attendance, it was determined that a female had allegedly forced her way into a residence and assaulted a female occupant of the home.

The female who was assaulted was taken to 100 Mile House Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the assault which were not life threatening.

The female who allegedly committed the assault was located at another residence and arrested for break and enter and assault without incident. The female was later released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. The incident remains under investigation.

Hydro pole hit

On March 3, RCMP were called to a report of a motor vehicle incident on Highway 97 south of the 108 Mile Ranch. A vehicle travelling southbound left the highway and hit a hydro pole which caused it to break and fall. Hydro lines were down on the roadway and traffic in both directions was stopped until BC Hydro attended and deemed the incident safe. Traffic was then alternating one lane until the crash scene and hydro lines were removed. Two occupants in the vehicle did not suffer any injuries. The male driver of the vehicle was determined to have consumed liquor and a roadside breath test was demanded. The result was a fail reading. The male was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Power was out in the 108 Mile area for several hours as a result of this incident.

Fuel theft

On March 1, RCMP received a complaint of a theft of fuel from a business on the 100 block of Exeter Station Rd. A locked fuel tank had been tampered with and 130 litres of fuel had been taken. It likely occurred between Feb. 27 and the date of the report.

Snowmobile theft

On Feb. 28, RCMP received a report of a snowmobile that had been taken from the 3 km mark of the 1300 Rd west of Exeter Station Rd. The 2000 yellow Ski Doo Tundra had broken down in a cut block area the day previous and when the operator returned to retrieve the snowmobile it was gone. The snowmobile was used for forestry work and has the number “9” on the dash.
