Earth Day helps shine a spotlight on the importance of sustainability and encourages people to make choices that will help protect our environment, a news release from BC Transit states.
“Choosing transit instead of driving is one easy way to take action. It not only helps to ease traffic congestion, but also decreases greenhouse emissions by reducing the number of vehicles on the road.”
Funding partners of the South Okanagan-Similkameen Transit System include the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, the City of Penticton, the District of Summerland and the Town of Princeton.
To help support other sustainable transportation options, all conventional BC Transit buses are equipped with bike racks in the front. Information on BC Transit’s sustainability initiatives can be found online at www.bctransit.com/about/sustainability.
Face coverings are mandatory on all BC Transit buses.
Information on transit schedules, routes and service alerts is available online at bctransit.com/South-Okanagan-Similkameen.
