As Elections BC begins to count mail-in ballots Friday, votes are coming in for Fraser-Nicola candidates.
The race in this riding is historically a close one, and as polls closed on election night Oct. 24 Jackie Tegart (BC Liberal Party) had a narrow 385-vote lead over Aaron Sumexheltza (BC NDP).

Mail-in ballots are now being counted by Elections BC, which the agency received a record number of during the fall 2020 B.C. election amid the backdrop of an ongoing pandemic. Across the province, 497,000 mail-in ballots were received by the 8 p.m. Oct. 24 deadline.
In Fraser-Nicola, 2,509 voters had requested mail-in voter packages.
The candidates in Fraser-Nicola are as follows: Dennis Adamson (Independent), Mike Bhangu (Independent), Aaron Sumexheltza (BC NDP), Jackie Tegart (BC Liberal Party) and Jonah Timms (BC Green Party).
Results as of 2:30 p.m. Friday:
Adamson – 398 – 3.42%
Bhangu – 306 – 2.63 %
Sumexheltza – 4,539 – 38.98%
Tegart – 4,909 – 42.16%
Timms – 1,493 – 12.82%
Total votes counted: 11,645
