100 Mile House residents should be aware there is currently a bear in a tree near 100 Mile Elementary.
According to James Zucchelli, of the 100 Mile House Conservation Officer Service, it is not a bear cub.
“As far as we know that’s a yearling bear. It’s not a cub,” he said.
Zucchelli said the bear is “not a public safety threat,” but that, obviously, you wouldn’t want to interact with it.
The Conservation Officer Service has not received any conflicts or complaints about this bear through their 1-877-952-7277 line, according to Zucchelli, and no officers are headed to the scene.
Although he wasn’t able to say anything else about the situation at this time, he said they’ll likely deal with it later in the day.
