Big Barriere Block Party ready to roll on June 9

Fadear Park is set to explode on June 9 at 3 p.m. as the Big Barriere Block Party 3 promises to be the wildest family friendly party in the history of Barriere.

Parents can explore the outdoor marketplace featuring artisans, crafters, woodworkers, non-profit booths and small businesses while the kids play in the bouncy castle, cool off at the splash pad, or enjoy any of the various family friendly activities that will be taking place going. Bring you lawn chair and set it up early as you will want a good seat for this year’s main stage entertainment.

This year’s musical lineup features an amazing amount of talent starting off with Joanne Marie Fauteux and her Smokey Ridge Band out of the Okanagan. Joanne has performed many times in Barriere before, but this will be her first time here with her full band. I am really looking forward to this show.

Up next will be the duo known as Stolen. These two young teenagers are already veterans in the music world as they have been playing the Sun Peaks music scene for years. They promise to bring a little bit of fun, a little bit of youthfulness, and a whole lot of talent to the stage.

The Rollin’ Trainwreck are a bluegrass/country/rock band out of Vancouver. They are quickly becoming a staple in the B.C. music scene and are the 2017 winners of the BCCMA Horizon Award and are the CMMA Provincial Spotlight winners. The Rollin’ Trainwreck don’t get their name for nothing and they are about to roll through Barriere.

Robert Harris will be jumping on stage next. Rob is a huge part of the local music scene, he is front and center at any event we put on and is a pretty amazing musician. Rob always puts on a great show and leaves the crowd wanting more. The Heels will fill out our lineup this year.

The Heels are a country/ pop musical group that are about to take off in the country music scene. They just released their debut album Love, Heels on May 25, and have two singles released to radio (Come Around, and He’s Not Where I’m Going). The Heels feature a high powered female threesome on vocals and are backed by an all star band.

New to the event this year is the Extreme Prize Extravaganza Showdown. There are six Grand Prizes available to be won with a total value of over $5000. Prizes range from Okanagan getaways to Luke Bryan tickets with hotel accommodation in Vancouver, from deep freeze and food packages, to fishing packages. The Showdown sponsors have truly opened up their hearts and their wallets to make this possible. Tickets to the Showdown are only $2 each, and you can enter as many times as you want, but you have to be at the event at 7 p.m. to compete for your prize. Four people will be selected from each prize package and they will then compete in an extreme game of skill to win their prize. Have you ever played Rock, Paper, Scissors for a $1000 prize before?

This year’s Big Barriere Block Party is hosted by the Bigger Better Barriere Association, and entry to the 2018 event is by donation.

I hope to see you all there!
