The City of Penticton has launched a new sign standard to better inform residents of proposed developments being considered in their neighbourhood.
Using a design that is bigger, features vibrant colours, clear imagery and large text, the new appearance seeks to improve the role that signs play in providing notice of development to passing neighbours, pedestrians and motorists.

“When trying to attract attention, nothing beats a clear sign,” said planning manager, Blake Levan in a news release. “In the past, notice of development signs were notorious for their awkward appearance and inconsistent assembly of information concerning what’s being proposed or how to provide feedback.
“The city’s new signs balance the requirement to share proposed development details while using a noticeable and readable format.”

Expenses associated with notice of development signs are recovered through development fees. There are no costs to the city.
