Bike swiped from back yard, graffiti resurges, carrier stolen from car top

The Oak Bay Police Department reports another successful Oak Bay Tea Party last weekend. The crowds came out and enjoyed the rides, food, and fabulous music.

The Oak Bay Police Department reports another successful Oak Bay Tea Party last weekend. The crowds came out and enjoyed the rides, food, and fabulous music.

“Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped out as it would be impossible to put it on without them,” said Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties. “Oak Bay police officers, Oak Bay police reserves, and Saanich police reserves patrolled the event. No significant police files were reported.

Graffiti resurgence

There were multiple reports of graffiti this past week. On May 28 a resident reported graffiti on her garage door and chimney. On June 1 the Oak Bay Recreation Center reported graffiti on an outside wall and in the men’s washroom in the ice rink lobby. On June 3 a resident reported graffiti on her property. Oak Bay police ask residents to report graffiti at 250-592-2424, as there are numerous investigative avenues to help identify suspects. A suspect has been identified for at least one of the incidents last week.

Built bike swiped from yard

On June 1 a resident reported that his Thule cargo box, mounted on his car roof, was stolen overnight. The cargo box had multiple garden tools inside.

Pair of impaireds

On the night of June 2 a vehicle was stopped after speeding and the 38 year old male driver was found to be impaired. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Later in the evening a roadblock was set up by members and one 27 year old male driver was issued a three day driving prohibition for impaired driving.
