One young man is dead and another injured after a single vehicle rollover on the Blind Bay Road early Friday, May 6.

The single vehicle rollover happened at 2:41 a.m. in the 2600 block of Blind Bay Road, near the Blind Bay Resort.

A Honda Civic was eastbound on Blind Bay Road when it left the road on the south side, entering a shallow ditch and hitting a culvert or berm across the ditch. The vehicle then vaulted and rolled coming to rest on its roof on Blind Bay Road.

There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time. One was determined to be deceased at the scene while the other was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

There are reports both young men, one 19 years old and the other 20 years old are recent graduates of Salmon Arm Secondary. RCMP have not yet released the name of the victim pending family notifications.

There is no word yet on what caused the collision but alcohol and speed involvement have not been ruled out.

Blind Bay Road was closed as the investigation continued at the scene but has now re-opened.
