On Sept 10-11, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) “Board on the Road” dropped in on the Forest Grove area to conduct meetings and meet with the community.
On Sept. 10, the Canim Lake Band council and staff met with the CRD representatives for a Community to Community Forum in the band’s administration building. Many of the CRD directors concurred it was a productive gathering, and an informal agreement was reached to convene again in the near future.
Chief Mike Archie and Trish Meraw subsequently attended the community barbecue at the Forest Grove Community Hall, where CRD Area H Director Margo Wagner introduced the board to a crowd of about 120 people attending. Members of the Forest Grove & District Recreation Society and volunteers prepared and served hamburgers and hotdogs, raising approximately $750 (including donations).
Friday’s (Sept. 11) CRD board meeting at the Community Hall covered a variety of discussions and included two points relevant to Area H (Forest Grove and Canim Lake).
Last year, Wagner hosted a Citizens Engagement meeting at the Forest Grove Community Hall, which proved to be very well represented and received. It was decided that this should become an annual event, rotated within the North, Central and South Cariboo.
As a result, Area G will host the next such gathering at the 108 Mile Community Hall on Oct. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
