A para-sail boat will not be taking anymore tourists for a ride this summer, after it was destroyed by flames on Skaha Lake.
Beach goers reported hearing a loud explosion, on Tuesday morning, followed by a puff of black smoke near the Skaha Marina.
Captain Ray Simpson says the boat was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on scene.
“They were about to go out working, they fired up the engine, they tried to move it and then there was an explosion,” he explains. “It appears that the fire started in the engine compartment.”
The fire did spread to a nearby pontoon boat damaging a side of the vessel, however did not spread to the dock or any other boats in the marina.
There were several people working for the parasailing company, on the boat, at the time of the incident one person had to be treated by BC Ambulance.
