A boat that sank off a dock in Kalamalka Lake Oct. 17 hasn’t impacted the local drinking water source.

Despite some concerns about gas leaking into the lake, water quality monitoring shows no impacts.

“Water quality is monitored online and regular weekly grab samples are taken at the intake and at the outflow of the Mission Hill treatment plant,” said Renee Clark, water quality manager.

“We did not see any changes to the water quality.”

The motorboat reportedly sunk into the lake Oct. 17 but was raised the following morning by the owner.

“The boat had a leak and eventually sunk – still connected to the dock,” said Clark.

“To my knowledge the  incident was dealt with quickly and effectively.”
