Castlegar RCMP reports that 41 calls for service were responded to from February 15 to February 17, 2013.
According to information provided by Cpl. Debbie Postnikoff a theft from a vehicle occurred at the Bombi Summit sometime during the evening of February 15, 2013 and the early morning of February 16th, 2013. Culprit(s) stole cash, credit cards and vehicle accessories. The RCMP is encouraging people not to leave valuables in vehicles. This is a popular area for sledding and hiking and has been subjected to several thefts from vehicle incidents over the past couple of months. Please report any suspicious people or vehicles lurking in the area to the Castlegar Detachment at 250-365-7721.
Another such theft took place sometime between the hours of 4:30 p.m. on February 16 and 5:30 a.m. on February 17. A large quantity of diesel fuel was syphoned out of a parked truck at the 2100 block of 6th Avenue. Police are asking for any information that could assist in identifying the culprits.
Police were kept busy in the downtown area during the evening of February 15 into the early hours of the morning on February 16 specifically dealing with 15 files involving intoxicated individuals, urinating in public, vomiting, fighting, and liquor infractions. Eight individuals were arrested for possession of what is believed to be cocaine and/or marihuana.
Criminal charges are pending in relation to three of these people, including:
• A 37 year-old Procter man charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and Obstruction;
• A 21 year-old Rossland man charged with possession of a controlled substance, and,
• A 29 year-old Castlegar woman charged with possession of a controlled substance.
