Just one week after the Kimber family lost their home in a fire, a second house was completely burned in a fire in Boston Bar on Saturday, March 13.

Witnesses say the home was a total loss following a fire on March 13; the family, Nancy Hill and her partner Red, escaped the home without injury. As of March 14, neighbour Alana Dawn told the Boston Bar Facebook group that the couple has moved to a hotel as the rebuilding process begins.

The Boston Bar community has again rallied around the family with many offering prayers and emotional and financial support. The local Lions Club has pledged $1,000 to the cause.

Those able to help can etransfer money for gas, clothes and medication to nancyhill2020@yahoo.com.

As of publication, there are no specific needs listed for the family outside of etransfers and food.

“I just want to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone that is reaching out to help my sister and Red during this difficult time,” Nancy’s sister, Elaine Hill, said on Facebook.

One week prior, Blaine Kimber and his family escaped a fire that completely destroyed their home. In addition to an outpouring of community support through physical donations for the family, a GoFundMe has been set up. The GoFundMe has raised just under $4,100 from 18 donors with a $100,000 goal with the most recent donation coming in on Monday, March 15.

Those who prefer to donate outside of GoFundMe can etransfer money for building supplies and other needs to caitlinkimber@gmail.com. In the Hope area, Trish Dunbar is collecting physical donations, and Caitlin has her contact information.

The Standard has reached out to the Boston Bar Volunteer Fire Department for further comment.
