A young boy escaped with only minor injuries after falling out of a second-storey window earlier this week.
On Tuesday, at about 3:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to a townhouse complex in the 14800-block of 61 Avenue.
A three-year-old boy had fallen about five metres (15 feet) through a second-floor window and hit a table below.
The table received a broken leg; fortunately the child did not.
In fact, the tot escaped with only minor bruises and abrasions, but with an abundance of caution was taken to hospital for observation.
He’s expected to be fine.
Police are reminding the public that screen windows only provide the illusion of protection, and warn that toddlers often fall through them as the weather gets warmer.
Typically, Surrey has about a dozen instances every year where children fall through windows when screens give way.
Fortunately very few of those have been serious or fatal.
