Residents of Coalmont, Tulameen and Hedley can put unwanted large items out for pickup from May 14 to 18 by 7 a.m. with their normal garbage.
Two items that are too big to be transported by car can be put out, including refrigerators, couches, stoves, washers and dryers and mattresses.
Construction waste, toilets, hot water tanks and doors cannot be put outside, but can be brought to the landfill. Computers and TVs should be taken to the e-waste recycle depot at the Keremeos landfill.
“Televisions and computer monitors placed out in the bulky item collection can break, making them impossible to recycle and can be a potential safety hazard for workers,” said RDOS chairman Dan Ashton.
Landfills take most metal appliances and pure-wood furniture for free, but charge for refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.
