Less than a year after fire damaged three downtown businesses, the trio gave thanks to the Campbell River Fire Department for saving the buildings.
Last Thursday, White Hat Drycleaners and Commercial Laundry, Stonehouse Teas and St. Jean’s Cannery and Smokehouse opened their doors for a celebratory evening during a Campbell River Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer event.
The open houses gave the business owners a chance to show off their smart renovations and new equipment, and to give thanks.
Rob and Brenda Harris of White Hat presented Deputy Fire Chief Chris Vrabel with a plaque of thanks, Stonehouse owner Tanya Hoffer made a big chocolate cake, and staff at St. Jean’s plied the firefighters with smoked salmon snacks.
“We are so grateful for their help,” said Brenda Harris.
Just after midnight on June 22, 2013, fire broke out in the lobby of White Hat. The blaze gutted the business and damaged the neighbouring businesses on either side.
