A Langley businesswoman hopes to unseat a Langley-area member of parliament during next year’s federal election.
Tamara Jansen, the retired CEO of Darvonda Nurseries, expressed her intentions to run for political office this summer and as of this weekend she will be the one carrying the Conservative Party of Canada colours into next year’s federal election for the Cloverdale-Langley City riding.
On Saturday night, during a riding meeting at the Cloverdale fairgrounds, Jansen beat out fellow hopeful David Hunt for the Conservative Party of Canada nod, meaning she will now take on current MP John Aldag.
“The Trudeau Liberals have decided to wage war on small businesses and families,” said Jansen. “I am committed to championing our families and our freedoms for a prosperous future.”
The mother of five and grandmother to 10 has spoken out at various public events in the past year about medically assisted dying, pro-life, and the Trans Mountain pipeline.
“David (Hunt) and his team did great work to help grow our party,” Jansen said. “Our focus now is working together in unity to win in 2019.”
