Busker tackled on film, attacker gets away

Man jumps from second-storey ledge to lamp post, climbs away

Well-known Victoria busker, Darth Fiddler, was tackled in a random attack on the weekend.

After a full day of performing, the fiddler was standing at Government and Wharf streets when a man blindsided him and tackled him on Saturday (June 11) at 7 p.m.

Across the street, three people filmed the event.

Witnesses, seeing the attack, chased the man to the Broughton Street parkade, where he evaded them by jumping from a second-storey ledge to a lamp post, and shimmied to the ground.

Police were called, but couldn’t find the suspect or the videographers. Investigators haven’t found the video posted online.

The suspect was about 5’9″ with dark hair and wore a red T-shirt and jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call VicPD at 250-995-7654 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
