There are some concerns that new development in part of the BX may impact water resources.
The Regional District of North Okanagan board has given second reading to a bylaw that would rezone 28 hectares in the 7900 block of Silver Star Road from non-urban to country residential.
Mike Macnabb, BX-Silver Star director, anticipates ongoing water issues in the area may be raised by existing residents at a future public hearing on rezoning.
“If there are water concerns, they should come up,” he said.
The applicant is proposing 15 lots consisting of up to 32 dwelling units.
Committee oversees rural Enderby process
A group of residents will keep an eye on the official community plan review in rural Enderby.
Eleven people have been appointed to the Area F OCP review steering committee by the Regional District of North Okanagan.
“In order to provide for a balance in discussion of issues and areas of interest, the committee will be comprised of two representatives from each community within Area F,” said Laura Frank, RDNO’s sustainability co-ordinator.
The review will consider long-term land use activities in the electoral area.
Agriculture rep named
A veteran agrologist will continue to play a role in Greater Vernon’s water utility.
The Regional District of North Okanagan board has reappointed Ted Osborn, former Coldstream Ranch manager, as agricultural representative to the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee.
Osborn’s role is to represent the interests of farmers when water issues are being discussed.
