MLAs for Surrey South and Surrey-White Rock are officially on the job after being sworn into office Nov. 27.
BC Liberals Stephanie Cadieux and Trevor Halford joined their colleagues Friday morning in a virtual swearing-in ceremony, officially becoming Members of the Legislative Assembly.
“It is an honour to officially be sworn in as an MLA,” said Trevor Halford, who represents Surrey-White Rock, in a release issued Friday.

“I am eager to get to work, finding new ways to serve my constituents and invest in my community, while always working to hold the government to account. I look forward to working alongside my caucus colleagues and being a tireless advocate for the people of Surrey and White Rock as I take on this new role.”
Halford, entering his first term, is one of five new BC Liberal MLAs elected Oct. 24, while Cadieux, representing Surrey South, is entering her fourth term in office, having first been elected to the legislature in 2009. On Tuesday (Nov. 24) Cadieux was named Liberal caucus chair.

“Each time I am sworn-in I am reminded of what an incredible privilege it is to serve the people of Surrey as an MLA, and I am excited to continue working on behalf of my constituents,” Cadieux said in the release.
“We know that many things look different this year because of the pandemic, but my commitment to the people of Surrey has not changed, and I look forward to working hard with my BC Liberal colleagues to look out for the interests of all British Columbians.”
“British Columbians are facing a crisis like no other in our recent memory,” added Shirley Bond, Interim Leader of the Official Opposition.
“Parents are scared, seniors are lonely, small businesses are struggling, and frustration is mounting. We have an impressive team of MLAs, some new and some returning, who all have the passion, dedication, and expertise to make sure these issues are addressed by John Horgan and the NDP.”
