The Campbell River Community Foundation (CRCF) has announced grants up to $500 for small group projects as part of the Neighbourhood Small Grants Program (NSG) for communities in Sayward, Quadra and Campbell River.
NSG provides grants of $50 to $500 to individuals and/or family members or in collaboration with neighbours, who are practicing proper social distancing, to bring projects to their neighbourhood to build community strength, foster community creativity and tackle social isolation.
The deadline to apply is Nov. 15, and all projects must comply with physical distancing guidelines.
The grants are available for groups of people who live in the same community and the projects are meant to take place within the area of residence .
NSG program which was originally started by the Vancouver Foundation has spread throughout B.C. in partnership with other community foundations.
This is the first year that CRCF is participating in the NSG program, according to Gwen Hamling, administrative coordinator of CRCF.
With the “disconnect and isolation” that the pandemic has brought in this year, NSG grants are really important as they help community members connect and come together for creative projects, Hamling says.
CRCF will be giving out multiple grants totalling up to $5000. Selection committees from within the community will select eligible projects and announce the grant winners two weeks from the application deadline date.
“We will review and try to support as many applications as we can,” Hamling says.
