The Campbell River Mirror came away from the annual Ma Murray Awards with two winners on the weekend.
The paper won a first place at the annual British Columbia newspaper awards for Ad Campaign and a third place for Outdoor Recreation Writing.
Mirror creative consultant Tammy Robinson won the first place, Ad Campaign Award for her Club Fitness campaign ad design. The judges said about the campaign that “The Club Fitness ads work on many levels. The clean, modern design suggests that the club will be offering a clean and modern facility. The great photo of healthy looking, energetic individuals draws in the reader who also wants to acheive this look and energy…These ads contain all the elements for a great campaign. Well done.”
Mirror reporter Mike Davies took third place in Outdoor Recreation writing for his story on the Campbell River ATV Club’s new recreation facility north of Roberts Lake. The judges said the story was a “Well-structured narrative of the process for obtaining approval and access for the community to recreational offroading.”
