Vanderhoof celebrated Canada’s 147 birthday in style this year with live music, dance, a farmers market, train rides and even a fire hose shower for the kids.

Celebrations took place at the Riverside Park in downtown Vanderhoof from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Festivities in combonation beautiful weather drew hundreds of residents to Riverside Park to celebrate the countries birthday.

There was a little bit of everything and something for everyone; parents and adults had a farmers market to peruse, Canadian trivia games to compete in,  live music performed by local musicians and a performance by the Saik’uz First Nation dancers to enjoy.

Kids were treated to rides in a homemade barrel “train” pulled by a tractor, cotton candy and snow cones.

Snow cones weren’t the only way to cool down, when the Vanderhoof Fire Department arrived  firefighters Kevin Leslie and Jeremy Banham brought out the fire hose to help cool the party down. Leslie and Banham took turns helping youngsters man the fire hose and spray their peers with a torrential downpour.
