There’s no better place to celebrate Canada Day than Memorial Park in Keremeos.
The day has something for everyone with music, food, a talent contest and kids games.
The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Keremeos Elks’ pancake breakfast, which runs until 10 a.m.
Musician Paul James will entertain the breakfast and coffee crowd until 9 a.m. when the third annual Similkameen Country Has Got Talent competition gets underway.
A list of talented people from the valley will perform throughout the morning including singing, dancing and even a skit.
The official ceremony including the Legion Colour Party will take place at 10 a.m. Children’s games sponsored by Elim Tabernacle will start shortly after.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Elks will be cooking up a barbecue. The winners of the talent competition will be named by 12:30 p.m. and the first ever Similkameen Country Business Star Award will be handed out.
The cutting of the cake will happen shortly after.
The Keremeos pool is expected to open at 1 p.m.
The Keremeos Museum is also holding a soft opening on July 1. Anyone who attends will get the first sneak peak of the new building and new exhibits at the museum. Museum volunteers have been working hard for more than a year to bring the building up to accessible standards and to come up with new exhibits.
The new museum is located in the old masonic hall on 9th Avenue.
