Canada Post confirmed there have been 13 incidents of vandalism to community mailboxes in the Williams Lake area since Dec. 13.
“As the incidents are under investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further or provide details,” a spokesperson for Canada Post said Friday, noting all of the damaged community mailboxes will be replaced shortly.
In the meantime, customers can pick up their mail from the Williams Lake Post Office at 48 Second Ave. South between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Any customer who is unable to pick up mail during these hours is asked to contact the post office at 250-392-3647 ext. four and alternate arrangements will be made.

Any customers who believe they have not received a specific piece of mail are asked to contact the sender, initiate a claim, and then contact Canada Post Customer Service at 1 800 267-1177.
If customers have concerns regarding identity theft, they are encouraged to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
“Canada Post takes these matters and the security of the mail very seriously,” the spokesperson said, adding efforts to curtail further damaged involve everything from equipment, to monitoring, to working closely with police. “Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity at a community mailbox is encouraged to inform police and Canada Post Customer Service.”

Residents are encouraged to collect their mail from community mailboxes daily and if they are going to be away to use Canada Post’s Hold Mail Service to suspend delivery.
