Elaine Tanner, the first Canadian woman to win a swimming medal in the Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968, will be giving away free signed copies of her children’s book Monkey Guy and the Cosmic Fairy on Saturday, Dec. 22 at Serious Coffee Parksville from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Tanner said this is her Christmas gift to the community.

Tanner, who resides with her husband John in Qualicum Beach, has taken the many life lessons she’s learned since her Olympic win and written them into a children’s book—Monkey Guy and the Cosmic Fairy.

Serious Coffee is located at 1209 Island Highway East.
