Union Bay residents took to the streets on Thursday to protest the Improvement District board.
On Feb. 19, a short post was published to the UBID website, announcing that board chair Ted Haraldson had cancelled the Feb. 21 and March 21 board meetings.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 25, following the election on April 20.
According to Union Bay resident Janet Thomas, around 30 people attended the peaceful protest outside the improvement district office. Many of the attendees had signs expressing their discontent with the closure of board meetings to the public, and the recent cancellation of the rest of the meetings. Many also showed their support for trustee Susanna Kaljur, who was temporarily suspended from the board earlier this year.

Though the improvement district office should have been open, Thomas said it was locked when the protest began at around 2 p.m.
Haraldson declined a request for comment on the cancelled meetings and the protest.
