Greater Vernon residents can learn more about the legalization of cannabis.
The Vernon Public Art Gallery will host a discussion on legalization of marijuana Thursday at 6 p.m.
“We have lined up a well-balanced panel to speak to the differing perspectives and Andrew Powell, from Nixon Wenger, will facilitate the conversation,” said Dauna Kennedy, VPAG executive director.
The panel includes Zachery Walsh, UBC associate professor of psychology, Rachael Zubick from community policing, Rus Stevenson a local grower and distributor, and a representative from Tolko. Representatives from various levels of the local government will also be in attendance.
“Our current exhibition Cultivate, which features the hidden landscape of cannabis production, has sparked discussions around its legalization next year,” sad Grant.
“We felt this was a perfect opportunity to ask the questions and facilitate a community conversation around this multi-faceted topic.”
The discussion is co-hosted by the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce.
“As with all new legislation, there are questions regarding implementation and how we as a business community can prepare for July 2018,” said Dione Chambers, chamber general manager.
