A two-car crash in Pitt Meadows on Sunday night left a vehicle and its driver down a steep water-filled ditch.
The car was on its wheels, with the water level halfway up the doors, and the occupant was not in danger of drowning, but required the assistance of Pitt Meadows firefighters, with ladders to get out of the ditch.
According to assistant fire chief Brad Perrie, the drivers were both hurt, but their injuries did not appear serious.
The crash occurred at Neaves Road and 132nd Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Firefighters assisted the occupants out of the vehicle in the ditch and up the steep bank, while paramedics attended to three others on the road.
