Shortly before 8 a.m. on March 28, a 2003 silver Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen from a residence at Blue Spruce Mobile Home Park, near Mulvaney’s Pub in Burns Lake, while the vehicle was left warning up.

According to staff sergeant Charlotte Peters with the Burns Lake RCMP, this type of theft is not uncommon in small communities.

“It’s important to put that out there that it does happen even in places like Burns Lake and people need to be vigilant and make sure that, if they are going to have their cars running, they need to be locked.”

Peters recommends having to sets of keys.

“Leave one key in the ignition and take the other one with you,” she said.

The stolen vehicle has a B.C. license plate – AK249P.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information about this theft should contact the Burns Lake RCMP at 250-692-7171.
