A crowd of onlookers gathered to watch a tow truck haul a silver sedan from the Kettle River last Saturday afternoon, near the black train bridge at 13th Street and Riverside Drive in Grand Forks. A diver was required to connect chains from the tow truck to the fully submerged vehicle.

The car went into the water on Nov. 16, after an allegedly drunk driver launched over the bank. The driver, a 24-year-old woman survived and got themselves to shore with the help of a witness to the scene. RCMP said they issued the driver a 90-day driving prohibition, and impounded the car upon its removal from the river.
