A driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries after his vehicle went off the freeway and crashed onto a side street in Abbotsford on Sunday night.

The incident took place at about 10 p.m., when a car travelling west on Highway One veered off the freeway onto Livingstone Avenue, which runs parallel to the highway; crashed through a chain link fence, breaking several posts; and flipped several times.

The man was ejected from the vehicle, and was transported to hospital.

Fraser Valley Traffic Services RCMP Const. Gaetan Parr said it’s not known what caused the driver to go off the freeway, but he was fortunate to have survived.

“It could have been a lot more serious,” he said.
