Phase one of Langley’s Cascades Casino Resort was unveiled last night during an invite-only open house.
Overall the project is an $18 million investment that includes various renovations and expansions.
Phase one included the addition of a new bingo hall, an expanded patio at Match Eatery & Public House, and renovations to the hotel rooms and convention centre.
Langley City mayor Val van den Broek was touring the facility and called the space ‘fantastic.’
“It’s fantastic, it’s so up-to-date and beautiful. They did a wonderful job. It’s nice to have a place to go to where you don’t have to go to downtown Vancouver. You don’t have to travel, the hotel room is right here, it’s the whole package.”
Gateway Casinos public relations manager, Madelaine Twomey, said Cascades Casino “sets us apart from anything else that the area has to offer.”
“I think it’s a great addition to the Langley community. It has turned us [Cascades Casino] into a full service property, giving guests everything they need in one place.”
Twomey added the invite list consisted of previous clients, potential clients, government dignitaries, and community stakeholders.
The Casino shares 10 per cent of its net profits with the City, as required under gaming regulations.
Van den Broek added the expansion ‘benefits the community,’ and has facilities that are ‘just as good as downtown Vancouver.’
In an effort to showcase the versatility of the convention centre, the open house set up different displays for guests to view. One room was decked out in a wedding theme, and another as an ice bar.
The largest room was divided into sections to show two different dinner and party settings that can be arranged.
Phase two is expected to be completed in 2019 and includes the opening of a new restaurant called Atlas Steak + Fish.
